🎠Roll up and Take a Ride on Vega Fairground
We're so excited to be announcing the v3, revamped and branded version of the Vega Testnet; namely Fairground! This marks a major milestone and we're super excited to launch the Fairground-specific website featuring Fairground related news, stats and (very soon) information about incentivised games. In terms of functionality the Fairground release includes the much-awaited liquidity mining. To learn more about Vega Fairground check out the website, this blog by Barney and the recent Community Call where Tamlyn went through 4 fantastic things you can do on Testnet.
For both new and old community members we host a weekly Vega Testnet Jam where we learn something new you can do on testnet, go through what's just released and offer support. Sign up here and catch the previous sessions on the Vega Youtube. In addition to this, Candida Vega's User Advocate has put together this incredibly resourceful list of common questions we get about Vega Console.
🥩Beyond Staking
Staking and rewards are ultimately a tool to define and incentivise certain behaviours over others alongside securing proof-of-stake networks. Each chain implements and defines these concepts in different ways and it's a hotly debated topic. Blockchain researcher at Vega, Dr Klaus Kursawe has specialised in just this for over 20 years and has published the three-part blog series 'Beyond Staking'. The first part defines and dissects what 'An Aphoristic design to stakes and rewards' mean, the second dives into 'delegation and the policies around it' and the final part 'Economics Incentivisation vs Blockchain Level Policy Implementation'. To learn more check out this Deconstructing_Vega session with Klaus and Danny. The Vega Research team is also hosting a clubhouse session on just this topic today at 6pm BST, join here.
🛠Open DeFi Hackthon
Vega is excitingly part of the the just launched Open Defi Hackathon run by Gitcoin. We've challenged the builders to create a simple and creative front-end giving traders easy access to markets using Vega's APIs. The prize pool for this is 10k and the hackathon ends 23rd May. To learn more about the hackathon and Vega's wider involvement to grow the developer ecosystem with Gitcoin check out this blog I wrote. To dive directly into the bounty see here and check out the accompanying workshop about how to get started.
🦄DeFi Club
Lastly, Encode’s DeFi Club with CoinMarketCap, Aave, SushiSwap and Vega sees its final event next week. Sign up to here to hear me talk about ‘How to get hired in DeFi’ May 13th 5.30pm BST.
