Fairground Incentive Rewards are a go! 👾👾
Here are the updates from Vega:
1. Community Call #14 - The Community Roadmap 🗺️
Once a month we have the Community Call, this month’s was particularly interesting:
In the above video recording, we announce Vega’s newest Community Lead - Arne - who will be working closely alongside the rest of the Vega Team to ramp up the community activities. This includes incentivised rewards which we have some fun ideas for 👾. If you’d like to catch up with Arne and the stream of events, activities, and competitions planned for the Vega Community over the coming months, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better source of information than the video linked above ⬆️.
The next Community Call takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, 5pm GMT
2. Fairground Incentive Rewards - Now Claimable 🎣
Now that the new contract is deployed and the reward claim system is operational again (with one or two small gas cost optimisations for good measure) the new Vega Fairground Reward Distribution site is live!
To claim your rewards for incentivised testnet participation, simply:
Check Claims → https://rewards.fairground.wtf/
Follow The Redemption Instructions → https://fairground.wtf/how-to-claim-vega-tokens
*Some participants initially had issues claiming, we believe that all remaining issues have been fixed but for those that haven’t, we’ll be adding a troubleshooting form to both rewards.fairground.wtf & the Redemption Instructions soon. This will also be in place for future incentives.
We plan to launch more incentivised testnet activities (with a far quicker claim period 😉) soon — stay tuned! 🎲
3. GR11 Hackathon - The Results 🏆🏆🏆
Yes - the results for the Gitcoin’s GR11 Hackathon are in and we are happy with the quality of submissions received 😍! A blog post with the full write-up, results, and payout amounts will be debut next week: keep your eyes peeled 👀. If you took the time to submit something, thank you for taking the time to contribute to Vega; the team hope to see you at future Vega Builders Club meetups!
4. Vega Tech Update - What’s New? ✨
As you may know, Vega now has a mini-blog series consisting of regular tech updates from the Core Engineering Team. These updates are designed to concisely outline where Vega is at with regard to upcoming releases and will be written by the people responsible for each project.
The latest issue is readable via this LINK.
The next Tech Update will arrive on Monday 18th October 2021
5. Fairground Jam - Q&A with Klaus Kursawe 🧠
The weekly Fairground Jam (Thursdays, 6pm BST, Vega’s Twitch) are an opportunity to ask questions about the protocol and get to know the team behind Vega a little better. This week, I ran a Q&A with blockchain research guru, Klaus Kursawe, from the Research Team. Watch the recording below:
6. Competition Time - Name the Vega Font! 🎨
In a bid to allow anyone to use the Vega font without the associated rights needed, we’ve created the Vega font and made it open source for all to get creative. Previously, Vega used Neue Pixel Grotesque alongside Helvetica Neue to form the arcaic yet oddly futuristic style that gives Vega it’s unique identity. The spirit of the Vega project is around openness, transparency and fairness and so we figured why not extend that to the font.
The problem? 😔
Our creativity has its limits and therefore we’re opening up the naming part of this creation process to the community. So get thinking, because on Monday 18th we’ll begin the Vega font naming competition on the Vega Forums.
60 $VEGA will be awarded to the best suggestion with rewards for the runners up! 🤤
For the full list of rules, rewards, and T&Cs, please wait for the associated blog post announcing the competition on Monday. The competition will last 1 week.
🍉And that’s all for this week, stay hydrated, see you in 2 more 🍉
