With great [governance] power, comes great responsibility! 🦉 Here’s the latest on Vega:
1. Governance Proposal #2 - Success! 🗳️
Now that the Restricted Mainnet is here, community governance votes are a very real possibility -
The 2 proposals seen above were to modify the staking reward payout delay to 0s. Initially, the engineering team implemented a 3 epoch security delay to the withdrawal of accrued staking rewards. Later in development, it was decided that this is no longer necessary. Therefore, what better way is there to test the new governance functionality than to put this parameter change to the community?
It is expected that the community will govern the future state of the Vega network more and more over time as ownership eventually shifts to the network participants and token holders.

2. Fairground Testnet Incentive - Rewards Reloaded 🔃
From Thursday 2nd December 12:00 UTC until Sunday 5th December 23:59 UTC, a follow-up incentive ran on the Vega Fairground Testnet.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the last incentive, we managed to identify and fix issues around the staking and rewards UI. This time around we tested the new and improved rewards UI!
During this incentive, the team 'crashed' and restored the network from a checkpoint whilst also changing some network parameters. This way, we managed to simulate an emergency and explore some rare edge cases that could occur on the Vega network.
3000 $VEGA tokens were given away between those who successfully registered and completed the incentive tasks, determined during a live raffle during the weekly Fairground Jam.

3. Sticker Competition - Phases 2 & 3 🎭
We’re now in the second phase of the Vega Sticker Competition and soon approaching the third -
There have been 100+ impressive submissions and we’re truly elated with the level of creativity that exists in the Vega Community.
Don’t believe us 🤔🤔🤔, take a look for yourself -
Next week the public vote begins, make sure to follow Vega’s Twitter to see your favourite submissions in the Vega Community Telegram & Discord server! ✨
4. Community Call #16 - 2021 & Beyond 🛣️
This month’s community call covered plans for 2022 as well as an update on the Community Roadmap outlined last month. Early 2022 will bring a lot to the Vega community not limited to the ambassador programme, NFTs, competitions, and more mentioned in the call below. Have a watch and let us know what else you’d like to see in the New Year -
The next Community Call takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, 5pm GMT, although January’s may be later due to the New Year!
5. Vega Tech Update - Update on the Update 😉
With the release of Restricted Mainnet, these updates will now become monthly. We took a lot of feedback from the 9 previous updates and a recurring theme was that you wanted more substantial content and release info. As we journey towards Alpha Mainnet in early 2022, we’ll share the key insights from Engineering & Co, month by month. This one was well received and packed with info, read it here → LINK ←
6. DeFiCon NYC - Vega Attending 🗽
In just over a week’s time, I’ll be speaking on Community and Marketing with our friends at DeFiCon NYC for their first charity conference. The proceeds from the event will go towards supporting SHE256, CryptoKidsCamp, and CivicsUnplugged among other good organisations. If you’re in NYC on the 18th-19th, come and say hi!
🌠And that’s all for this week, enjoy the holidays, see you in the New Year 🌠
