1. Vega+ Ambassador Program - Updates 🦔
The Vega+ Ambassador program has seen A LOT of interest with the first batch of 500 filling out the application form within just 2 days! We’ve since begun reviewing the initial applications and re-opened them for the second batch of 500! If you’re at all interested in becoming an example and leader for the Vega Community to follow, find out more → HERE ← and apply → HERE ←!
2. Community Call - March 2022 🌻
The first Tuesday of this month just so happened to be March 1st. Welcome to March and with the new month comes a recap of ETHDenver, updates on the Vega+ Ambassador Program, and an introduction to the newest member of the Community Team - Daun! Daun was a member of Vega’s first Community Core program (think, early ambassador program) way back in 2020. He’s been a valuable member of the team ever since and will be helping with data collection, metrics, and other community initiatives. Meet him alongside myself and Arne in the call below:
3. Governance Incentive Results
Vega’s latest Incentive focused on Protocol Governance ended on 25th February 2022. The goal of this incentive was for users to use the newly released freeform governance proposal feature to send a public vote for the network to enact some sort of change. So many of you participated in the incentive and registered your Twitter handles, qualifying for the raffle! The winners of the raffle were announced during this week’s Fairground Jam, the rewards will be paid out in the following week. We’d like to thank you all once again for participating and contributing to the development of Vega Protocol.
Do check out the results of the raffle in the live stream recording below -
4. Vega begins hosting Twitter Spaces 🐦
Shortly before ETHDenver - Vega launched its Twitter Spaces series - the 1st Space covered ‘The State of Decentralised Derivatives’ & featured Barney Mannerings (Founder of Vega), David Siska (Quant and Co-Designer of Vega), Sam Cassatt (Founder of Aligned, Former CSO of Consensys), Ninor & Ninos Mansor (Partners of Arrington). The conversation covers where we currently are in the evolution of DeFi. More specifically, we talk about derivatives as a financial instrument and how innovation in the space is adding value to the crypto ecosystem - listen → HERE ←
The next Twitter Spaces will cover the relationship between blockchain applications and privacy. Vega maintains an authentic philosophical stance on privacy - In this episode, we will invite experts in the field to dissect all important questions around privacy - stay tuned to discover which stellar guest will be part of the conversation!
5. GUI Wallet 🔐🎨
The GUI (Desktop) version of the Vega Wallet is very nearly ready to be tested by the community. It’ll be released next week and if you look hard enough - you may even be able to find an early release in and around Vega (hint, look on GitHub👀). The wallet will be released for both Windows and MacOS, with fewer features than the command line wallet (which is intended to be cutting edge) but more than enough to do what you probably want to be doing. Stay tuned next week for the full release!
6. Vega ‘Educates’ Office Hours 🏫
VEGA’s goal for 2022 is to provide ways to develop and accelerate its community’s knowledge of Vega, DeFi & other crypto-related topics. That is why we are re-designing the Research Office Hours into a structured and planned program, ‘Vega Educates’, (name TBD).
There are many topics to get one’s head around when discovering or learning about Vega - The aim of ‘Vega Educates’ is to break down the learning process into easy to grasp segments (which are still being defined & will be finalised in the next couple of weeks). The learning segments are likely to be divided into: Vega Basics (understanding the ins and outs of the Vega blockchain), Financial Derivatives (key concepts regarding financial derivatives) & Vega Console (Practical sessions & workshops).
Vega’s journey towards education started earlier this year, with the publication of the series ‘Derivatives are not Evil’ - check them out here:
