Dodge the Dodgems & embrace the DOGE-ems 🐶🐶, here’s what’s new at Vega:
1. LP Order Incentive #2 - Retrospective 🛎️
Last week, Vega launched a re-run of the Liquidity Provision Incentive! Since Liquidity Provision is a complex topic, participants were given the chance to learn more about it and test out Vega scripts used in Round 1 of the incentive. 1️⃣
In the second round, the competition heated up 🔥🔥. Rewards were increased for winners but the number of eligible winners was reduced. 2️⃣
We re-launched the market for SOLUSD on Fairground and restarted the leaderboards. Once again, hundreds in the community took part! After ironing out the bugs that came up during this round of the LP incentive, it was great to see the market working as it should whilst being stress-tested by the community, some of whom were trying to do some pretty crazy things. 😛
2. DOGE-ems Incentive - Fairground Trading 📈
This week, the Doge-ems trading incentive was launched 🐶. This incentive is trading-focused. The idea was to help the community learn more about Vega by trading on a life-like market and test Vega’s trading systems. So, naturally, the Dogecoin market was chosen 🍭!
After the Liquidity Provision Incentive, the core team noticed that some of the more crafty members of the community found ways to faucet their accounts with assets many times. So this time, we changed the system. Now, participants sign up by filling in a form and are then faucet-ed by an internally run script ✨.
The Vega Engineers had fun wrestling with the challenges that creating the DOGEUSD market on testnet threw up. For example, this was the first market on testnet with a price of less than 1, and this was another test for the system. New participants joined throughout the course of the game, with lots of activity, discussion, and of course… lots of people getting rekt. 😵
We had great fun running the incentive, and we hope the Vega community had fun participating. Catch up or get involved → HERE ← 🐕🐕
3. Vega+ - Updates from The Ambassadors 👑
It’s Week 4 in Ambassador Land & the groups have been split into Teams & had focused calls with their coordinators. The current batch of Apprentices has been fantastic in helping us test Vega’s systems and providing feedback on the Documentation that the wider Community will need to be familiar with as more software begins to go live.
Did I mention they also make awesome memes & explainer videos? ⬆️⬆️
Applications are expected to re-open in Week 6 as the initial Apprentices graduate and become fully-fledged Ambassadors of the Vega Network, stay tuned! 🏫
4. Global DeFi Conference - Catch Barney Online 🖱️

5. Crypto & Freedom - The Undeniable Link 🧵🏴☠️
Edo (Perception @Vega) recently dropped a thread on Twitter on one of our favourite talks at ETH Denver, "The Cryptopunk Ethos and the Future of Freedom" by @deseventral. The panel is dear to Vega’s pseudo-cryptopunk ethos and really aimed to remind the Web3 community at ETH Denver of the reason behind why we are doing what we are doing - there’s more to life than the financial upside 😉.
If you enjoyed this type of content, more will be dropping soon, so be sure to follow Vega on Twitter and activate the bell icon! 🐦
In short, the panel can be crystallised as ‘crypto and freedom are two peas in a pod’ - one cannot be risked at the expense of the other. Listen to the talk → HERE ←
As we stride toward Alpha Mainnet, we are focused to voice Vega’s values, mission, and narrative of permissionless market creation: ‘free the markets’ - learn more about creating the markets you need without permission:
6. DeFi’s Missing Link: A Historical Perspective on the Link Between Privacy and Blockchains by Klaus Kursawe 📓
After Vega’s Twitter Space series on privacy from the last community update, there’s a nice little follow-up on Privacy! Klaus Kursawe, crypto OG and Researcher at Vega, has been writing since the days of the Web1 Mafia! In a nutshell, the relationship between blockchain applications and privacy is complicated as we have created pseudonymous accounts and transactions that are totally transparent and visible on the web 👀.
The article explores the paradox of crypto & privacy, and covers the following topics:
DeFi as a Privacy Booster 💉
The missing link 🔗
What the original Crypto Wars taught us 💣
If you’ve enjoyed this piece on privacy, and are interested in learning more from Vega’s OGs, then you should definitely check out the Papers section → HERE ←
