What’s an LP order anyway? 🌊🌊 here’s the latest at Vega:
1. Twitter, Tokens & TSLA - Liquidity Provision #3 ⚡
Providing Liquidity is complicated. But the Vega community has loved the challenge of liquidity provision incentives. Because of the success of the previous liquidity provision incentives, we ran another one this week.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Elon Musk is buying Twitter.
Therefore, the Team thought it would be fun to run the LP incentive on one of his other companies; Tesla.
To participate in this incentive, users had to faucet themselves some Ropsten ETH from a publicly available faucet, trade this for some tEuro on Vega’s fairground, and begin trading in the Tesla market. There were some initial doubts about whether people would be able to find and faucet themselves Ropsten ETH easily, but as ever, the Vega community proved that they were up to the challenge. There has been great participation this time, with almost 200 users getting themselves on the leaderboard. It’s worth noting that because of the way users were trading and providing liquidity, the price of Tesla on Vega’s fairground became quite different to the actual price of Tesla stock. We decided not to reset the price this time because this would have resulted in a price jump causing many participants to be liquidated ⚠️.
Overall, it was great to see so much participation and enthusiasm. Liquidity provision will be very important to the protocol as we move closer to launching Mainnet, so it’s great to see the community learning about this topic.

3. Tech Update - April 2022 📅
The Tech Update is a mini-blog series consisting of regular updates from the Core Engineering Team (& close friends).
These updates are designed to concisely outline where Vega is at with regard to upcoming releases and will be written by the people responsible for each project.
As we journey towards Alpha Mainnet in H1 2022, we share the key insights from engineering & co, month by month.
This month’s update covers Core Protocol Development, LP Incentives, the GitHub Feedback Board, and the newly released Block Explorer! ⏹️🟥🟧🟨🟩⏹️

4. Barney in Berlin - Blockchain Oracle Summit 🔬
Barney is back in IRL at the Blockchain Oracle Summit in Berlin!
The Blockchain Oracle Summit is the world’s first technologically agnostic summit that’s fully-focused on oracles, which play a crucial part in most of blockchain’s most advanced applications.
Barney has been relentlessly touring around the world propagating Vega’s ethos and mission - the word is spreading that Mainnet is launching!
5. David & Klaus - Financial Cryptography & Data Security Conference 🌞🗻
Financial Cryptography and Data Security is a major international forum for research, advanced development, education, exploration, and debate regarding information assurance, with a specific focus on commercial contexts. The conference covers all aspects of securing transactions and systems. Original works focusing on both fundamental and applied real-world deployments on all aspects surrounding commerce security are solicited. Submissions need not be exclusively concerned with cryptography. Systems security and interdisciplinary works are particularly encouraged.
Our stellar Vega researchers, David & Klaus, will be attending the 26th edition of The Financial Cryptography and Data Security hosted in the sunny Sierra Nevada mountains of Granada - both will be presenting their proposed research papers, in one of the hottest melting pots of security and cryptography - if you’re into the deep technicalities of constant product markets or staking mechanisms, enjoy the read!
6. ETH Amsterdam - DeFi Retreat chats w/ Rysk🌷🌬
Devconnect at ETH Amsterdam took place last week! Vega attended to host an event and have some of our team members enter the hackathon (it’s a good way to train & bond junior devs). Vega’s Part-time Developer Advocate Jake ended up winning a $2,500 bounty with Union Quest built atop Union Finance → See the project here ←
In other news, the Research Team had an offsite in Amsterdam to work on scaling the protocol with threshold signatures as opposed to Zero-Knowledge tech. The Community Team managed to catch up with Rysk Finance - a young project that happens to contain 2 former Vega Protocol Hackathon (Encode Club x Vega) winners - Josh & Jib! It’s nice to see former Vega hackers deciding to launch their own project and so I interviewed Josh about his experiences at Conferences, Rysk Finance, and Hackathons during the weekly Fairground Jam. Check it out below -
7. ETHAmsterdam - Mad Party w/ crypto frens🎩🐰🍄
Vega joined forces with Opium, 1inch, Rockaway, and Zerion to launch the Party of wonders in Amsterdam - it was a blast! Lots of great crypto enthusiasts networking and sharing views on the future of the ecosystem, drinks and bright yellow hoodies, of course - music by legendary local dutch & globally renowned DJ: Eelke Kleijn, which got the whole party vibing - nothing better than good music when talking crypto!
We tried pushing the ‘barriers to entry’ by posting an anagram challenge on Twitter:
Apparently, it was too hard to solve - next time we’ll come up with an easier one - it was solved in the end though! If you attended the party but didn’t solve it, try again! 🤪
👑 That’s all for this week; congrats again to Vega’s newest Ambassadors 👑
