Community Update #5
Interacting with the Vega Testnet, Gitcoin Prize Winner, and what we're cooking up next.
I’d first like to spare some words for those suffering in Beirut following the Ammonium Nitrate explosion. If you do have the resources, please find some time in your day to donate to those currently living without shelter, electricity, or emergency healthcare. Again, we’re reminded that the world is truly an unpredictable place and it’s a deep shame that this is how we must begin the month.
On a marginally brighter note, I’d like to share with you what is new with our Community:
Our Webinar discussing Fairness in DeFi trading systems was a success. For those that missed it, Dmitriy Berenzon led a discussion with Vega’s Klaus Kursawe and Tamlyn Rudolph. Together, they discussed Klaus’ research, how it works, and why it is a necessary innovation for the DeFi space. Catch the full discussion below:
One of our community champions, @Bitcoin__Bill, has written a comprehensive overview of what we're building at Vega and how to get yourself involved. His article provides an in-depth overview of how to connect to the Vega REST API and our real-time GraphQL messaging server. He manages to cover: the credential setup process; market and ID selection; data streaming and exploration; and finally, implementation of a rudimentary trading strategy.
If you'd like to join us right where the conversations are happening, find Bill and the rest of the team over on our Discord. Our first Gitcoin Bounty Challenge has now concluded and Vega’s Chris Moores has published an article covering the ins-and-outs of the challenge. We’d like to offer a big congratulations to @cryptowhaler (aka Rahul Mittal) for their submission and status as our grand prize winner. You can view @cryptowhaler’s submission below and we’d recommend having a read of Chris’ article so you know how best to keep up with what we’ve got planned next.
We’re busy planning a big follow-up to Deconstructing DeFi: Deconstructing Derivatives. Expect cross-project involvement, interactive workshops, and masses of educational content! The event is currently set for early September - keep an eye out for more info in the coming weeks. If you’re researching and/or working on something relevant and would like to either host a session or participate please get in touch either by replying here or email christina@vega.xyz
That’s all from me this week; Please stay safe; I’ll be in touch again in a fortnight! 🤗
