🥳 Somewhere, far far away, a Beacon Chain has merged 🥳 Here’s the latest at Vega:
1. Trading Fees & Rewards - New Blog! 🍰
With the upcoming release of Alpha Mainnet & restricted trading, it has been critical for the Vega Team to consistently be educating the community about everything Vega! This blog covers more details on the fees & rewards structures 🤤 🧁
Fees are paid to those who assist with the network’s operation and longevity by providing liquidity, placing passive orders and assisting with infrastructure maintenance. The rewards can be used by anyone to encourage certain behaviours and participation with specific assets or markets.

P.S. Have any questions about the Fees & Rewards article? Hop on the Research Office Hours (AMAs) with the Vega Research Team
2. Mainnet Messari - NYC Team 🗽🇺🇸
As the crypto industry continues to grow and disrupt adjacent industries, Messari strives to offer investors, developers, entrepreneurs, and newcomers alike with reliable information and data tools that help them participate intelligently in the crypto economy. Building off this ethos, we will continue to experiment with industry partners to ensure the Mainnet experience offers experiential learning, promotes collaboration & networking, and remains anchored with independent content. Messari Mainnet 2022
Some of Vega’s Biz Dev team will be going to New York City in a week’s time for Mainnet Messari. Barney has been invited to speak on Thursday 22nd September at 3:05 PM EDT on the panel ‘Waiting for Volume: When Will Crypto Derivatives Catch Up to TradFi?’. More announcements will be coming soon on Twitter, so if you’re around the Big Apple & would like to connect, reach out on our channels! 🍎
3. Barney on Finnovators - Your dose of Vega on Spotify 🎧
Barney covers the importance of having decentralised derivatives on the latest podcast by Finnovators! 🔊The episode discusses the London blockchain ecosystem and how Defi and Tradfi are converging to benefit people IRL.
Tune in for an hour of Vega deep dive & learn about Vega's bespoke protocol and derivatives marketplace. Barney covers MEV prevention, predictable trading fees, margin credit, atomic closeouts, hybrid AMM/order-book liquidity, and what's next in the Vega roadmap.
4. Research Office Hours (AMA) - Biweekly Quiz 🤩
As a quick reminder, Vega hosts a weekly Research AMA (12pm GMT+1) where anyone from the Vega Community (including the Team) can come along, and ask questions to Klaus, Witold (Research Team) and Daigan (Community Team). These can range from what’s the latest feature set in development to thoughts on the wider Crypto Ecosystem - this week we covered the Merge as well as Liquidity Provision on Vega.
Now here’s the fun part! Vega+ Senior Ambassador, Tony, is Vega’s resident Quiz Master. Every month he prepares 2 quizzes which take place at 1pm GMT+1 (right after the Research AMA). This week’s quiz was centred around Vega’s Liquidity Provision process. Typically, documentation or key concepts are shared in advance for the community to get ahead if they so desire.

5. Fairground - A Mega Incentive Update 🎡
OP Game
During OP Game the team used one of the markets that was proposed by the community during the Govgames for a trading game, neat huh? This was set up in order for the community to get to experience how their proposal would work in action.
15 Minutes of Game
This incentive was in two parts, one internally and one for the community. The internal test for this incentive was to set up and vote through a new asset (iDAI) with withdrawal limits for Fairground using governance. The second part - the incentive for the community - was to test out how the withdrawal delay function, which was set to 15 minutes, works.
ERC20
In the coming incentives, especially those linked to trading, governance will be used to introduce new ERC20 tokens instead of the internal XYZ-assets. This is, of course, to have a process that mirrors what can be expected from alpha mainnet 😉.
💎 We merged, congratulations to Ethereum & all that made it happen 💎
