🇨🇴 Tres años después… Devcon VI fue genial 🤟 Here’s the latest at Vega:
1. Devcon VI - The Vega Schedule 🦄
Vega Talks
Dr. Klaus, Vega’s Blockchain OG, “Beyond Stake: Implementing diversity policies on PoS” - Tuesday 11th October, 1.30pm (GMT-5).
Vega’s quant gurus David & Tom, ‘‘Parameter Optimization and Emergent Behaviour in DeFi: Agent Based Simulations and Reinforcement Learning’’ - Wednesday 12th of October at 2pm (GMT-5).
2. Beyond Stake - Implementing Diversity Policies on PoS 🌍
Klaus explored the challenges of implementing diversity-improving policies on a PoS network! Economic (dis)incentivisation is a popular approach but can be undermined by non-standard miner economics such as (cross-domain) MEV or derivatives on incentivisation. As an alternative, Klaus outlined an approach to include diversity support into the consensus level without requiring changing the basic functionality of the protocol by adapting the concept of general adversary structures. ⛓
If you have any questions for Dr. Klaus join the weekly Research AMA Office Hours 🧪
3. Parameter Optimization - Emergent Behavior in DeFi 🗝
‘‘As in any complex system, there may be emergent behaviours in DeFi protocols.’’ In this workshop, David & Tom outlined the basics of how agent-based simulations combined with reinforcement learning can be used to explore emergent behaviours and also for various protocol optimisation parameters. 👨💻
The workshop was based on these repos:
4. The Vega Team - Volunteering 🦔 🤝
Rebecca & Dan helped with handing Devcon merch out to the community at the Swag booth. The 8-hour shifts were hard work but they made the most out of it - new friends, good times, and long-lasting crypto memories! Edo was assisting the EFDevcon team with social media - reporting live with on-the-ground updates and selecting content to engage with.
It was great to help out the Ethereum Foundation; we’ll for sure be back volunteering 🦄🦄
5. Fairground Incentives - Transfer Loop & Trading 💥
This week 2 Incentives are running at the same time: Recurring Transfers and Trading. The Recurring Transfers incentive helped to test when the Transfer function was used by multiple users as well as monitoring triggers that have just been implemented on testnet. In order to run this, the participants were required to transfer into the CLI wallet. Surprisingly, this was achieved by a much larger amount of users than expected.
In parallel, a Trading incentive has been running. Since there have been some issues with the market, it might end up in us using the incentive Governance introduced recently, in which case it will be up to the community to decide on the path forward.
In order to be a part of that process, head to the Vega Discord and have your voice heard!
6. Crossword Series - Blog Scavenger Hunt 🏴☠️
For the last few weeks, the team have been releasing educational content on Mondays to prepare for what is to come. To encourage people to read the blogs, there is now a series of crosswords being released throughout October. The answers to the first two Hunts are in the Liquidity and the Trading Fees Blog Posts. For the full competition terms and to try and win, head over to the Vega Twitter or Discord.
Try and see if you can solve the one above? 🧠
