Mainnet Simulations - Status: Live (with a delay inbound) 🚀 Here’s the latest:
1. Sims - Not too late to join! 🤓
As you know, the Mainnet Simulations launched this Tuesday! The first Sim is still ongoing so you can still take part. 📡 📡 📡
If you’re asking yourself if it’s too late, well… It’s not! Of course, the earlier you join the better but you’re still in time! So, sign up & bring your frens! 👫
On a related note, there’s also a Community Competition being run by Vega’s Senior Ambassadors (credits to Nelson for the idea & execution). You don’t even have to be a good trader to win, just screenshot your position on the leaderboard →
2. Vega Bytes - Sim 2 Delay Inbound 🍔
An early extract from this week’s Vega Bytes from Core Engineering:
On the 2nd Feb during Sim #1, a number of data nodes had issues with running out of memory. The Vega Visor was able to be used successfully to restart nodes, however, it has highlighted performance issues that would not be acceptable in Alpha Mainnet.
Having triaged the issues the project team has made the difficult decision to delay the next Sim. The revised timelines (subject to change as details emerge) will be as follows:
6th - 17th Feb - the core team will be focused on optimising the data node performance to a baseline required for Alpha mainnet
17th or sooner - the team will assess progress and set further expectations on the delay time frame
20th - 24th Feb - (subject to change): the latest software version will be deployed to testnet (fairground) and run for a week to review the performance enhancements of the data node
W/C 6th of March - Sim #2 is expected to begin 🫡

3. Mainnet Simualtions - Blog & Spaces AMA 🔉
On the 25th of January, the Mainnet Simulations blog was published and announced on Vega's social channels. As you know, the first step in the Alpha Mainnet release sequence is the launch of the Mainnet Simulations which are an opportunity for the Community to strengthen the network, and take part by building/testing and earning VEGA - there has been an engaging storm of activity so far, the community is vibrant and protocol feedback (both positive and constructive) is coming in fast!
As promised back in December, we also ran an AMA on Twitter Spaces with Daig, Barney and Dan to provide a more in-depth overview of the Mainnet Sims & of course, to have some fun together!

3. Staking Guide - Secure the Network 💰
Vega is a Derivatives DEX optimised for permissionless market creation, which allows VEGA token holders to earn rewards by nominating their VEGA to validators. Follow the steps provided to earn rewards and help secure the Vega network! #FreeTheMarkets

4. Mainnet Sims - How to Guides 🫡
Some of the newest members of the Vega community were having some teething problems setting up for the Sims. The Moderation Team had the idea of creating some official videos (and created some unofficial guides themselves; huge shoutout 💪). The Community team reacted quickly to this and worked with Front-End Engineering to put out a number of guides - crazy how much you get done with some good teamwork!

5. Crew 3 - Mainnet Sims Quiz 🏅
In December, we launched the Vega questboard on Crew3 to get more people interested to learn about the protocol. We’ve now revamped the questboard’s layout and included a section on the Mainnet Simulations. Users coming in via Crew3 will be learning by taking quizzes, reading resources and actually participating. As we saw a great response from the Community taking part, we will be launching a new set of activities to make sure the fun doesn’t stop! 🏴☠️ 🌑
