1. Alpha Mainnet - Market Update š„
The very first market, BTC/USDT-230630, was launched by the Vega community on May 23rd
ETH/USDT-230630 and LINK/USDT-230630 launched the following day
June 22nd marked the highest total trading volume per day in USDT (settlement asset) reaching 4.2M
857k USDT has been deposited on the Vega network
2. Trading & Market Making is Live - Release Blog š„
TL;DR
The Vega community has spoken and the governance processes required to approve the launch of market creation and trading functionality have been completed
Users can now trade on live markets, and market makers can allocate liquidity and earn trading fees
As the name suggests, Alpha Mainnet is a network running an early or āalphaā build of the Vega software and is not considered production ready. Itās expected that bugs and issues will be found, and users should exercise caution
Community members can propose new assets, markets and changes to network parameters on the Vega Forum
Validators continue to receive delegation from token holders and secure the network by running nodes, and will receive a share of the trading fees that accrue from trading on the markets that the community creates
Live markets and trading on Alpha Mainnet are only the beginning. Down the road, youāll see more exciting applications, integrations, and products

7. VNP 004 Increase PoW Difficulty - Enacted š¬
On June 19th 2023, a proposal was passed to āchange parameter spam.pow.increaseDifficulty from 0 to 1ā on the Vega network.
Proposal Summary:
If a wallet exceeds the max transactions per block, the difficulty of the PoW increases by this factor. Current setting is 0, this proposes increasing it to 1. This change will allow market makers to update their orders more frequently, resulting in more accurate and more competitive prices on Vega markets.
